I’ll help spread this to make it a point that FEMEN’s actions are anti-feminist and very anti-muslim, and anti-catholic. I’ve heard that recently they bared their breast in front of a Paris mosque in protest against the wearing of hijab of muslim women. Much of the mainstream Media DID NOT pick this up, knowing that it could cause the ire of muslim nations. FEMEN have also disrespected Catholics when they bared their breast during one of Pope B16’s public appearances in the vatican years before, fortunately the amount of people listening to his holiness made their ‘protest’ insignificant. Several mainstream news sites picked this up. That is why I support this post and i am for the freedom of muslim women to choose to defend their beliefs. Down to false feminists and destructive secularist!

HABAGAT 2012 Adventures

During the last 3 days of suspended classes, I COULD NOT concentrate on my acads. I don’t know why. But I feel like going out and venturing the heavy rain. Seeing how everyone is mobilizing for our affected brethren. I challenged myself that if the suspension will extend till Friday, “I WILL GO OUT OF THIS HELL(Dorm)” and help those in need with whatever I can offer. Luckily QC’s suspension accepted my challenge.haha.

DAY 1, Thursday, Sto. Domingo Church, Holy Family Parish:
Off to CYA (Christ’s Youth in Action) Office in Brgy(?) Laging-Handa(?), QC (i prefer to call it Scout Area). With only 250 php in my pocket I went there together with my brothers and sisters.(Actually there were no brothers other than me, just for reading aesthetics I’ve put ‘brothers’, imagine if I omitted brothers, it would sound wrong…haha)

First we went to scout for Evacuation Centers in need of help. The Sto. Domingo Church was fairly OK.(This is were majority of the actors and the Media go to offer help). The macho parish priest told us that his parish was full yet flooded with help..haha.(Macho because, who would have thought that the relatively small but buff guy in shorts and T-shirt was the priest!)

Next we went full force to the Holy Family Parish Church, QC. The jolly Social Welfare officer of the parish told us that they need manpower and that they are attending for 1,400 people, that is about 500 families.

After gathering about 25 CYA volunteers for the parish, we repacked 500 relief goods. It was so tiring because the priest requested that the evacuees be fed by 12noon, meaning we have to be finished in 2hrs (rough estimate, I never had the chance to see what time is it already). It was also the first time I carried a sack of goods that is almost equivalent to my weight, luckily the policemen finished fast in transferring those cursed sacks.

^Soup distribution. The child controlling the line is one of those kids who forfeited their line in order to help in controlling their fellow children. In doing so, he has proven that Voluntarism has no age limit.

After helping in the control of the people while the administrators are distributing the food, we went home tired but satisfied. We were welcomed in the Tobias Household with a warm-tummy-filling dinner, Adobong manok.

DAY 2, Friday, Caniogan, Pasig and Pag-asa, QC:

First we finished repacking rice and other stuffs for Brgy. Caniogan, Pasig. Then we delivered it to the Brgy. Hall and we were welcomed by the Brgy. Chairman. And for formalities sake, we had a few picture taking.
(I didn’t find the facebook page with the pictures as promised by the Brgy..haaaay.)

^Goods delivered to Pag-asa, QC. I had fun in this place because we had the chance to talk to some evacuees. We almost got lost going to this place. We passed Batasan and DSWD upon going there. When we finally arrived we asked the administrators if we can already distribute the sandwiches because it might get spoiled if left for another day. We went to a room of 25 families(according to the Lady I talked to).The children were having fun in our sandwiches. We also ate some. And amazingly in one corner the elderly were reading bibles. They said the administrators taught them how and has encouraged them.

When it started to rain, we immediately gathered our brothers and sisters to go home. We noticed people flocking towards the compound because according to them the flood is rising again! When we were about to go out, the vehicle in which I was riding got stuck in the mud.(We were the lead of the caravan of 3 vehicles). So we went into the rain and helped to push, then pull, then lift the vehicle. It took almost 20 minutes before we finally got out of the mud. Wet and Tired, we finally went back to Tobias Household.

The Rain finally stopped in the evening. We were all happy of our accomplishments. We went back to each of our respective houses and dorm. Being full of fellowship, hardwork, Adobo, and mud, all I can say is that it was such a great experience.

Sounds familiar??? No, this is a different kind of rally.

I have been to another rally before, the real Red Shirt one, but I didn’t appreciate it as much as this one, because here, I am fighting for something that I really believe in. I was neither given an incentive by one of my profs nor was I obliged by my org(organization) , I went on my own. By my own conscience, by my own will.

In this rally, we did not bring torches, rather we lighted candles. We wore red not because we seek to revolt, instead we choose red for it stands for Love, it stands for Life. We shouted not the toppling of a government, but the enthronement of values. We sought not to fight, but to pray…yes, this is a prayer rally, the Anti-RH Bill prayer rally.

THE GATHERING

Thousands of advocates (10,000 as of 3:00pm) flocked in front of the magnificent image of our Lady of EDSA. Different groups merged as one. Shouting in one singular voice, in one singular soul. I saw familiar organizations and communities like the CFC, El Shaddai, Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon, Knights of Columbus, Caritas, UST students, etc…, all willing to fight for what they stand for, bringing placards, banners, flags, candles and of course snacks.

The program started with a prayer of the rosary, inserted with simple doxologies in-between mysteries by some youth volunteers. Then after that, professional life-advocates gave testimonies of why the RH Bill must not be passed. There were a doctor, a psychologist, and several priests and bishops. As the program was going, the rain was like a malfunctioning shower. It rains then stops, then rains again. It was as if someone was flicking the rain-switch on and off, but remarkably that didn’t compromise the patience of the crowd, because whenever it rains, you can see people sharing umbrellas with those who didn’t have. Nuns, photographers, lay ministers, teachers, students, children, seminarians etc…

I was lucky to have brought mine, and there were 4 people under my umbrella at one moment. People I do not know by name, only by faith. These people for me must be praised for their resilience because even though the weather was rough they stood by the Church, steadfast to their faith.

“Walang tagalog ang contraceptive.”

(There is no word in tagalog for contraceptive.)

Said one of the prelates speaking. This was a good point because it mirrors the reality of the situation. The concept of birth control is foreign to the Filipinos. Filipinos value families. They do not count their properties as wealth, because it will just devalue over time, but choosing your families as treasures is a far better investment, because when all material wealth is gone, and you are left with bankruptcy, the family will still be there for you.

“Kung gumamit si Cory ng birth control wala si Kris Aquino, paano na ang bansang Pilipinas, paano na si Boy Abunda?”

(If President Cory had used birth control, there won’t be any Kris Aquino, then what will happen to the country, what will happen to Boy Abunda?)

This statement of one of the archbishops poked fun on the idea that if ever the late President Cory used birth control there won’t be any of our beloved Kris, yes beloved, the people loves her right? anyway. I want to extend it up to His Excellency PNoy. Would he even exist if 9 months before his birth, his parents thought of using contraceptives? Maybe they did, just look at PNoy, he looks so normal. But then again let us leave that to the competent people for judgment. The point here is we are pro-life for we believe in the sanctity of marriage, and within that, the sanctity of sex.

my sincere thoughts on RH Bill and Sex

i don’t like that children get pregnant so early.

i don’t like sexually-transmitted diseases.

i don’t like ignorance about sex.

i don’t like overpopulation.

i don’t like pedophilia.

i don’t like abortion.

i don’t like rape.

but my sincere question is this: can the RH Bill really address these problems?

if yes, pass that f*cking bill already, why are there still arguments?

but my only primary objection to the RH Bill is this:

i don’t like that sex is being used as a past time by some people, as a mere activity of pleasure, as an irresponsible act that need guidelines, as something that can accessibly be done by anyone. it saddens me, cause for me, sex is something so much more romantic than that. for me, sex should be something shared by two people who are truly in love and who chose each other and who made the decision to be responsible for each other. yes, i’m idealistic, and i believe in the sanctity of marriage. i even don’t approve divorce. for me, people shouldn’t make lapse decisions about who they’re gonna marry. for me, until you’re truly sure of somebody, until you’re truly ready to commit, until you have truly convinced yourself that you’ll do anything and be responsible for another person, until you’re truly sure that he/she will also do anything for you, you shouldn’t marry or have sex with somebody. for me, if you’re not ready to be the second half and the significant other of an individual, then you shouldn’t partake of the beautiful union of two bodies, two hearts, two souls. for me you shouldn’t partake of perhaps the most beautiful, intimate, romantic thing in the world: SEX.

so if i ever want to have sex, i’ll do it wearing what for me is the safest thing: a wedding ring.

but then again, that’s just me.

It’s good to see people who really knows what the root of the problem with the RH bill is. it is not what the Bill seeks to provide that the anti-RH are fighting, but what it will inevitably destroy. the sanctity of SEX. yes, SEX is sacred. SEX is not a little game of pleasure that you could just play whenever you want, in whatever form you want. It is a gift that is coupled with responsibility, it is a gift to create NEW LIFE. Some may argue that SEX is the ultimate form of LOVE that you can show to your beloved, and that is true, ONLY IF done in its purest purpose, procreation.

HISTORY WILL REPEAT ITSELF, in another form.

Soaked in the rain, my feet in the mud, I suddenly had a spark of something. I thought, this has happened before! A high ranking church official calls for a peaceful demonstration, the people gathers, there were nuns, seminarians, images of Mary, rosaries, people of different social strata, then some politicians arrives (I just want to add that in this prayer rally Sen. Enrile!!!!!, Sen. Sotto, Sen. Honasan, Mayor Atienza, etc… came). Yes it is reminiscent of the EDSA People Power I. But in here, the people are not fighting against the government, but for the protection of the sanctity of LIFE and Family values. The people are not seeking freedom from the grasps of dictatorship but the removal of the shackles of Western Condom mentality. Yes there is such a thing. It has been normalized by the continuous mislead advocacies of global institutions like the UN and the IMF. For a brief trivia, Contraception was once held to be a sin by ALL of Christendom.

During the 1930 Lambeth Conference of the Church of England (Protestant), due to social pressures, they allowed several cases in which contraception will be permissible, then with this lead, every other church followed, and only one church stood against this misconceived ideology, and that is the Catholic Church. The result if this misguided decision lead to the radical change in human mentality. Now everyone has the right to have sex whenever they want. Protestant pastors even advocate the use of contraception in marriages. Today only the Catholic Church has remained in its ancient tradition of claiming that what has been a sin, will always be a sin.

Church of the Poor

“The poor are not mere statistics, they are living, breathing human beings.”

The pro-advocates insists that the Bill seeks to lessen poverty brought by the rapid population of the economically incapable families, and in stopping this, the Philippines will be prosperous. Quite a claim, but the Church does not view the poor as mere numbers that you can just subtract from a graph. They are humans like everybody else. Does it mean they have fewer rights to create families than the privileged ones? No, what must be tackled is not the bearing of families but the education and opportunities that the budget for the bill can provide. Why do we need to fund for the control of human numbers if we can just fund for more classrooms, hospitals, books, jobs etc… Why do we need to address something that can be solved by the rightly guided morality and conscience, without compromising the values of the Filipino? Why don’t we just teach our kids that sex is something you do inside marriage to produce another cute kid and for that, we must deem it as sacred, and pleasure of it is just the extra incentive that God had put for our consolation? Do we really need to teach the next generation that sex is pleasurably good (it is permissible to have sex at age 13 according to the sex rights proposed implicitly within the Bill), so let us all have sex whenever we want, but always use condoms for we do not want annoying children. And where do we get these condoms? Of course from foreign companies! Now with that said, who do you think are pro-poor, pro-values, pro-Filipino. You will be the judge.

RH Bill is Not ALL BAD.

Yes, RH Bill is not completely bad, it only wants to alleviate the poverty of the country, but it wants to do it in the wrong way. Some may say just pass it and modify it later, and yes it has been modified again and again, but the root problems with the Bill are not removed. It’s like a good recipe but one basic ingredient is already spoiled. In whatever modifications you do in the recipe, if you insist that the spoiled ingredient is necessary, it will always make the whole recipe spoiled.

I’d like to extend this blog further but I would just cut it short with the Prayer Rally specifics, though there are a lot to be said, I want to go back to the experience of being there with people who you know shouts the same voice as mine.

The program is to be ended with a celebration of the Holy Sacrifice (the Mass), but before that something was conceived that I didn’t expect to happen, an emcee of the El Shaddai, he told us, came on the stage and a blast of energetic praise songs came out of the large speakers, then he encouraged everyone to participate in the songs. From my point of view ( I was positioned almost at the center of the crowd, and elevated), I saw everyone jumping, with hands in the air, singing (The lyrics were projected). The ambiance suddenly changed and everyone had smiles on their faces. That is the moment that I felt the charisma of El Shaddai, I saw seminarians jumping not minding the mud splashing in their white robes, priests were waving their placards, even the photographers/journalist were doing some grooves, and being not a kill joy, the nuns, wet and happy, waved and jumped together with all the people. We breathed as one, tired but satisfied, with smiles on our faces. We felt victorious at that moment. We may lose in the Congress but in our hearts we have already won.

The mass was going on and the Monstrance was already in place. Looking at the enormous fly-overs/skyways above that part of EDSA, I saw buses slowing down for a moment to see what the commotion is about, but what struck me is that whenever a bus passes I can see someone inside doing the sign of the cross in reverence to the mass being performed, or maybe the giant image of Mary, but the bottom-line is, there are still these kind of people who in spite of modern secularism still professes their faith whenever given a chance. A simple sign of the cross may not persuade the government, but those random acts of loyalty to the faith is something worth noticing.

I’m not afraid to be called a hypocrite, and to those who are intimidated by the so-called rationalism of non-theists, don’t be afraid to believe, don’t be afraid to accept your faith, show it. Express it. We may be called hypocrites, idealist, Jesus-freaks, don’t mind them for these people who persecute believers are only intimidated by the strong faithfulness of those who believe, they cannot fathom how the hell (yes, I can say that, I believe in hell) can we stand to still be faithful even if science seem to be a better ‘religion’ (science is not a religion, it is a tool for religion. Burn).

The Church is a Church of sinners. We are not perfect, of course. Only God is. And from that imperfection can rise mistakes, and even sometimes bloopers

During the reading of the Gospel, the priest accidentally forgot the readings for that day, and though majority did not react for it was a solemn moment, an assistant prelate whispered to the reader and he smoothly jumped to the correct passages, either passages are relevant though. Although that can be weird, it’s just ok for me because it shows the humility of human character. We are creatures ridden with mistakes, but God gave us the capacity to change. Just like our legislators who may have to resort doing what will be mistake, they can still change their mind. They can still act based on conscience not on western ideology. They can still prefer morality over practicality. They can still vote for Humanity not for Economy for as the Bible says, “what profits a man who gains the whole world, but loses his soul”.

Expanding what the Bible says, I say:

What profits a nation who gains wealth and progress,

Technology and Development,

If at the expense,

It loses its soul?

Ikaw, ano ang tingin mo?

Step 2: Post something. (put Humor)

Step 3: If somebody else reply, your dead.

Step 4: Mock his use of sophisticated logic.

Step 5: Post a well made sarcasm to make your conclusion.

Step 6: I he doesn’t reply, he has a faulty Internet connection.

haha…ofcourse those above are not recommended.

But remember, my dear folks, Being a Rationalist is Good, very good. But being both a believer(not the JB fan) and a rationalist is Much Better. To have faith on something more powerful than ourselves is Human Nature, therefore if logic shall prevail, then we must recognize that Humanity is indeed in need of that faith. Logic can’t fully provide hope but faith does. Logic only provides glimpses of known phenomenon. We must always remember that Logic ,via science, is limited by the data you can gather, and data is only valid if it is empirical, therefore logic is founded on a supposed veracity of replicable results, in simple terms LOGIC IS GROUNDED ON FAITH that these data will remain virtually the same every time. You see, Faith comes before Logic. Yes it’s true that Faith is UNREASONABLE, that’s because FAITH IS BEYOND REASON. FAITH comes before reason and logic. Faith is universal, faith is something personal yet so common that every single culture has devised a way to express it. We do not need to eradicate Faith, because if we do, humanity will be no more, for our humanity is rooted in faith. Rooted in something that even Logic and Reason can’t Explain. Something that we yearn to go, to meet, to be with.
